Navigating the Fast and Furious Growing Season of 2022

Dec 16, 2022
As I reflect on 2022, I can't help but think about the challenges we faced and how we overcame them to have another tremendous year in Agronomy. February brought us the Russia/Ukraine war, which sent fertilizer and energy costs to all-time highs. Mother Nature then decided not to let us into the fields until May 7th, which made for a "fast and furious" planting season—later planting led to a later harvest than expected, with higher moisture corn and soybeans to deal with in the end.

Even with all the "Speed bumps" listed above, our patrons and employees battled through to have another fantastic year. Record or near-record yields were once again reported throughout our entire trade territory. Our "rock solid" Agronomy team once again shined through all the tough times to deliver the products you needed to have another successful year. This year our staff delivered 305k tons of fertilizer, 310k units of seed, and a United Cooperative record amount of crop protection to assist you with your operations. We also provided our patrons with more than 1.6 million acres of custom application to aid in the success of your operations.

We continue to see supply issues with Agronomy products, just like everyday items in our lives. Please know that our procurement team has once again been working tirelessly to secure the crop protection, fertilizer, and equipment necessary to keep providing you with the industry-leading service that you have been accustomed to.  Please feel comfortable knowing we will have the products you need for another successful year.

Thank you for your patronage in 2022. We look forward to having another successful year with you in 2023. Please enjoy the holiday season and spending time with your families.

Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2023.
