Making Investments to Improve the Value on Your Farm

At United Cooperative, we continue to invest in infrastructure so that we can add more value at your farm gate. Our Soy Processing facility will soon be in full production at the Waupun location. This facility will be processing local soybeans and converting them to a product named Exceller Pro. Exceller Pro is a mechanically processed soybean meal designed for high producing dairy cows.

Prior to United Cooperative making this investment approximately 85 to 90% of the soybeans that are grown in Wisconsin leave the state. By processing additional beans in Wisconsin, we can capture additional margins on the soybeans for our grain producers and save on freight cost bringing feed ingredients back into the state for our livestock producers. Keeping these margins locally is a Big deal for our customer patrons and our local communities.

Our soy processing plant in Waupun, when at full capacity, will consume approximately 22,000 bushels of soybeans per day, seven days per week or about 7.5 million bushels per year. This capacity will utilize approximately 50% of the soybeans that United Cooperative handles today. When at full capacity we will be producing approximately 600 tons of Exceller Pro meal per day seven days a week. Exceller Pro meal will be available for purchase in protein mixes at any of our feed mill locations or as a direct feed ingredient picked up at the Waupun facility. This facility has the capabilities to ship Exceller Pro meal on rail which allows us to reach into the eastern dairy markets and into Canada. The soy oil that will be produced from this facility will be sold on rail or truck for further processing.

We are looking forward to adding additional value at your farm gate. If you have any questions, please contact any of the United Cooperative feed locations.

Thanks for the working relationship that we have with you and we look forward to working together in the future.

As we begin another busy “Spring Season,” an essential business practice for your cooperative is to review customer accounts that have unpaid amounts 60 days or more past due.

Thank you to patron members who have taken advantage of input finance options or bank loans to prepay for products and services. There are enough issues with weather, machinery breakdowns, and other factors, and you won’t have to worry about how to pay for items needed, as you are well prepared.

The grain market in the Upper Midwest as of May 2026 is characterized as a period of volatility.  Corn futures are currently following a classic seasonal pattern.  Harvest lows were set in late October reflecting a large US corn crop, harvest pressure and farmer selling. Physical supply simply overwhelmed near-term demand during this time.

With summer just around the corner, now is the time to plan your propane supply for next winter’s heating needs. The most recent winter brought average to below-average temperatures and saw strong demand for propane. Propane exports are still up and will affect supply moving forward; over the past year, over 64% of our country’s propane was exported, mainly to distant countries in the far east, for the production of plastics.
